4 Thrift Shopping Secrets For Finding Gems!

Image
1. Size Matters! The size of the thrift store does matter! I typically find more items at a bigger store because they receive more donations and support from local shelters, food banks, etc. Privately owned thrift stores tend to be smaller and don't offer a great selection because they're not getting constant donations (Lisa Marie Conklin). 2. Location Matters!  Usually you would think to go to a suburban area to find goodies. Wrong! Not saying these areas don't have good items, but speaking from experience, I've typically found GEMS at the stores nobody would think to go to in a location that isn't the most glamorized. They also provide these items at a better price. Since these non-glamorized locations are more diverse, you would organically find a variety of vintage items at relatively good prices. 3. Don't be Afraid to Shop the Men's Section (for my women)  Most of my clothing for fall (over sized coats), even graphic hats and tees all h...

Thrifty Halloween Decor

Image
It hit me earlier this week that... Halloween is here!!! I want to show you some of the house decor that you can easily make at home. So, all my Halloween decor was made by myself or purchased in dollar store. Image by Sarah via Thriftydecorchicks These jars are from target for 25 cents each, and for the spooky label, you can find anything that you like online (the creepier the better! ) and print them out, then stick to your jars. The liquid inside are just water and add few drops of ink, it can be green, red, purple... there you go, you have your cute little potions now. Image by Sarah via Thriftydecorchicks I went to Party City for some Halloween decor ideas and found that those little tombstones were so popular, however, they are retailed for about 10-20 dollars each depending on the sizes, which I thought was too much for me. After that, I went to Dollar Tree near my house and discovered the similar decor, which was only for  5.99 dollars, however, the...

My Favourite Jeans from Thrifting

Image
Jeans are definitely one of my favorite things to thrift. They never really go out of style, and any small damages can easily be repaired with a small cost. But sometimes you don’t even have to be bothered by those minor wears and tears on the jeans as they are often unnoticeable or even seem intentional. Most of my vintage jeans are from Buffalo Exchange in Harvard Avenue (because they have fitting room!). It is a little bit tricky when it comes to thrifting jeans. You have to keep an eye on the details. For instant, the waist, the thigh room, and the stretchiness. When thrifting jeans, I always prefer jeans that with loose relaxed fit instead of skinny, and I usually won’t bother by the inseams as I can always cut it shorter as I want it to be. Well, let me show you guys some of my favorite jeans I got from thrift stores! These pair of Levi’s jeans are my recent found. Even though they are a little bigger in size, they were on a price tag of just $38 if I’m not mistak...
